Coveberry Oldbury: Birmingham, West Midlands
Coveberry Oldbury is a registered locked rehabilitation hospital located in a quiet residential area of Oldbury. We provide specialist rehabilitation in a safe and supportive setting for males aged 18 and over who have a primary diagnosis of a learning disability. Many of our patients also live with autism, co-occurring mental health conditions, or other complex needs. The hospital features 13 en-suite bedrooms and two independent flats, creating a structured environment where individuals are supported to progress along their recovery journey and work toward greater independence and community integration.
Our patients may be detained under the Mental Health Act, subject to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, or receiving care on an informal basis. We are experienced in supporting individuals who present with behaviours that challenge or who have a forensic history. Our secure setting is designed to reduce risk, foster personal growth, and enable each person to develop the skills and confidence needed to transition safely out of hospital care.
Every individual at Coveberry Oldbury receives a personalised treatment plan developed in collaboration with our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team. Therapeutic care is delivered through a combination of one-to-one and group sessions, all tailored to build self-esteem, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and promote long-term recovery. Our aim is to help each person reach their full potential and move forward with their life.
Patient involvement is central to our approach. We actively encourage individuals to contribute to the development of their care, their living environment, and the wider service. Through community meetings and our patient champion programme, individuals are empowered to take leadership roles and help shape the experience for themselves and others.
As patients make progress, they may have the opportunity to move into one of our two on-site independent flats. These provide a stepping stone to more autonomous living, allowing individuals to experience increased independence while still having access to the support and safety of the main unit.
In addition to addressing mental health needs, we support the physical health and overall wellbeing of every individual. This includes help with self-care, life skills, social development, and participation in meaningful activities. We promote involvement in education, training, and employment where possible, and offer real-life work experiences in areas such as catering, housekeeping, and maintenance. Volunteering and charitable initiatives further support personal development and reduce the likelihood of relapse.
