Coveberry Haywood House: Stoke-on-Trent
Haywood House offers high-quality supported living accommodation for adults aged 18 and over who are living with a diagnosis of learning disability or autism, often alongside additional mental health or behavioural challenges. Our service is designed for individuals who may struggle to live independently or integrate fully into community life due to complex support needs. At Haywood House, we provide a safe and supportive environment where people can begin to rebuild confidence, develop practical life skills, and take meaningful steps toward greater independence.
The setting features eight fully self-contained flats, allowing each resident the privacy and autonomy of their own living space. Shared communal areas, including a kitchen, offer opportunities for social interaction and the development of daily living skills in a home-like setting. Supported living at Haywood House bridges the gap between residential care and full independence, creating a space where individuals can explore their capabilities, assess areas for development, and build the resilience needed for long-term community living.
Residents manage their own tenancies and are supported to take responsibility for day-to-day aspects of life such as budgeting, household management, and personal wellbeing. Support packages are bespoke and responsive to the unique circumstances and progress of each individual. Our flexible, person-centred approach ensures that assistance can be gradually reduced or adjusted as confidence, coping mechanisms, and self-sufficiency grow over time.
Using the principles of the “My Journey in the Community” model, Haywood House provides 24-hour support tailored to individual needs. Our dedicated support team works closely with each resident to set achievable goals and help them move towards greater autonomy at a pace that feels right for them. This includes emotional support and practical help in managing health, relationships, responsibilities, and community participation.
One-to-one support is provided to help individuals strengthen their independent living skills, such as managing medication, understanding tenancy responsibilities, building safe social connections, and accessing educational, employment, or leisure opportunities. Our aim is to enable each person to lead a fulfilling and empowered life within the community, supported by a team that understands their journey.
Haywood House welcomes both men and women with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism, including those with co-existing mental health conditions. Individuals must be able to manage their tenancy with support and may be referred informally, under a Community Treatment Order, or via the Court of Protection. We are committed to providing a respectful, enabling environment where every individual can thrive and move closer to independent living.
